The house

Quiet cul-de-sac. Long private drive. Automatic gates.

Most visitors say the same thing when the gates open: they didn’t expect this. The house sits well back from the street on a battle-axe block, wrapped in mature bamboo and gardens we planted from bare dirt fourteen years ago. It is private, secure and easy to live in, with room for cars, kids, a workshop and a long lunch under the patio.

Video walkthrough

The whole house in 78 seconds

Starting at the front of the house, a quick walk through the bedrooms, kitchen, living areas and laundry, then out under the alfresco to the garden.

Arrival

Parking for everyone, out of sight of the street

A long driveway runs behind automatic street gates to a broad hardstand and carport. Bamboo lines the boundaries, so the front of the house feels private from the moment you arrive.

Kitchen

A renovated kitchen at the centre of everything

Black gloss cabinetry, a long run of white benchtop, an island breakfast bar, rangehood, dishwasher and a patterned tiled splashback. It opens onto the dining and family room and looks out to the garden.

  • Built-in study nook beside the kitchen
  • Renovated laundry with outdoor access

Living

Two living areas, opened up and full of light

We opened up the living spaces, laid new floors throughout the living areas, repainted in neutral tones and fitted LED lighting. A separate front lounge gives the adults or the teenagers somewhere of their own.

  • Split-system air conditioning
  • Sliding doors to the alfresco

Bedrooms

Four bedrooms, two bathrooms

The main bedroom has a walk-in robe, ensuite, ceiling fan and its own split system. Three further bedrooms share the main bathroom.

Outside

A big gabled alfresco and a lawn you can kick a ball on

The patio is large enough for a long dining table and an outdoor lounge at the same time. Beyond it is open lawn, a swing set and a large kids’ cubby, all framed by established gardens.

  • 9 × 6 m powered shed
  • Bore
  • Gardens established across the whole block
